Truck Assist TEKNO Racing driver Jack Le Brocq has banked further points in the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit over the weekend.
The two races from the event gave the team a pair of 20th place results, with the lack of safety car appearances throughout working against the squad.
“Saturday was a bit of a tough one,” said Le Brocq.
“The race started really well for us, and we were trucking along quite well.
“Unfortunately, we didn’t quite have the tyre life we needed to make it count at the end.
“We changed a few things overnight, and it looked after its tyres better in the race today.
“It wasn’t the best result overall, but we’ll take it, it adds to the bank of points, and we’ll move on to the next one.”
Friday’s on track running featured a pair of 30-minute-long runs, with Le Brocq registering times that placed him 17th and 22nd in the respective sessions.
After setting the 24th fastest time in Saturday morning’s third practice, the outfit qualified 22nd for the opening race of the weekend.
From lights out, Le Brocq settled into 20th for the 27-lap encounter, before pitting relatively late on lap seven for his compulsory stop.
Once the field sorted itself after the service, Le Brocq found himself in position 19, before fading to 20th at the chequered flag.
The final practice session for the event on Sunday morning netted car 19 the 22nd fastest time, but the squad dropped to 24th in qualifying.
Subsequent to gaining a position on the opening circuit of the 45 lap second race, the Truck Assist TEKNO Racing crew ran a long first stint, pitting from third place on the 14th circuit.
Another long middle stint saw Le Brocq eventually head in for service from third place on lap 30.
With the second race also running free from safety car intervention, Le Brocq picked off places in the run to the finish with his fresh tyres, before being classified 20th on the result sheet.
Following the opening 10 races of season 2019, Le Brocq currently sits 22nd in the standings, with the championship set to continue under lights in Perth on the first weekend in May.
