Shane van Gisbergen says his Tekno package is even better than the one that propelled him to second overall last year.

The Kiwi driver grabbed a podium at Symmons Plains last weekend, noting that the Tasmanian circuit was one of his weaker rounds last year.

“For us, the postives are these tracks, this one and Perth, where we really struggled last year,” he said. “That was pretty well documented. To come here, we were strong all weekend. As long as we’re strong in Perth we’ll be pretty happy we fixed these type of tracks.

“Grand Prix we were fast, Adelaide we were fast, so things are pretty positive.”

The Tekno driver added the car was particularly strong on Dunlop’s softer rubber.

“My car was amazing on softs, really looked after the tyre and had great speed.”

Next stop for Team Tekno is the Perth Supersprint at Barbagallo Raceway 1-3 May.
