TEKNO’s Will Davison and Jonathon Webb have triumphed to finish P12 after fighting from 25th position at the Sandown 500, Round 10 of the Supercars Championship this past weekend.
Race 19 – Position 12
Davison qualified P19 in Saturday’s session, but nearing the end of the 20 Lap Co-Driver Race for the Grid Webb had a clash which saw him veer into a tyre wall at high speed.
Webb’s front right wheel had locked at 260km/h approaching the sweeper, sending him running wide and tagging Hazelwood.
Unfortunately the car was too damaged to be repaired in the short hour break and Davison was unable to take part in his Race for the Grid.
The TEKNO Team worked tirelessly overnight to get the car prepared for Race 19 of the Supercars Championship.
An amazing overnight effort from the TEKNO Team was widely applauded as the crew had repaired the #19 Woodstock Bourbon Commodore ready for Sunday’s warm up.
Starting in P25 for the 161 Lap Race, Webb climbed 4 places on the opening lap before a crash suspended the action for an hour as crew worked to repair the tyre wall.
Webb continued to climb through the field on the restart, and had a clean changeover with Davison who replicated the sentiment, overtaking several cars in front of him.
The duo finished the Race in P13, which was 12 places higher than they originally began.
A later exclusion of a car in P9 moved Davison and Webb into P12 for the Sandown Race.
“It was a tough weekend but we had a reasonably clean solid race, so we’ve got to be pretty happy with that. We were a bit behind the eight ball with the weather this weekend and missing a qualifying session meant we were chasing the set-up a bit. We kept our heads down and made no mistakes and the car ran well and got up to 13th. We will take the points and prepare for Bathurst up next.” – Will Davison
Davison & Webb will now prepare for Round 11 of the Supercars Championship at the Bathurst 1000 on October 5-8, with all Races to be televised LIVE on Fox Sports.
