Whilst most of the other teams in pit lane have elected to run local drivers across all three races of the 2013 Pirtek Endurance Cup, TEKNO has taken a slightly different route in selecting two Europeans – Germany’s Marc Lieb and Holland’s Jeroen Bleekemolen.

The majority of you will have heard of these guys before. Marc raced with Jonathon Webb at the 2012 Gold Coast 600, where they finished second in the Saturday race, and has previously raced with Alex Davison on the Gold Coast. Jeroen was Shane van Gisbergen’s co-pilot in the 2012 GC600, and has also raced in the Australian Carrera Cup and in the Bathurst 12-hour.

They’re both extremely talented drivers, who are at the elite levels of racing throughout Europe. Marc is a Porsche factory works driver, and has been since 2003. He has a sensational history in endurance racing, with multiple class wins at the Le Mans 24 Hour, outright and class wins at the Spa 24 Hours, and four outright victories in the Nürburgring 24 Hour. On the Gold Coast with Jonathon last year, he was one of the quickest of the international co-drivers.

“This is fantastic. I always dreamed about driving the Bathurst 1000. I was watching the race as a kid and was fascinated. It will be a big challenge! But I am driving for a great team and I am really happy to returning to Australia with TEKNO and Jonathon,” said Lieb.

Jeroen is based in Monaco, and is currently racing in both Europe and the United States. He won the LMP2 Class at Le Mans with Porsche in 2008, and drove for Team Netherlands in the A1GP series from 2006 to 2008, taking victories in China and South Africa. He is an extremely experienced campaigner, and one that we’re excited to have on board.

“I’m extremely proud to be joining Shane and Tekno for the V8 Enduros. I have always loved watching V8 Supercars and doing Gold Coast last year was a great experience. The team is running very strong in the championship this year, I can’t wait to go out there and fight for good results,” said Jeroen.

Now all we can do is head to Sandown, and put the pedal to the metal! We can’t wait!

The first round of the Pirtek Endurance Cup, the Wilson Security Sandown 500, will be run at Sandown Raceway from September 13-15.
