The #97 Darrell Lea STIX Commodore showed great pace all day with Shane Van Gisbergen going second fastest in practice 4 while Jonathon Webb was P5 in practice 3. Here’s what our drivers thought of day 1 at the Gold Coast 600.

Shane’s thoughts:

“[Practice 4] gave us a good reading for tomorrow. All session we were fast and near the top which was good. The car feels really good and consistent and that’s what we need around here. It feels like rallycross down the straight where you jump over those kerbs you feel like you’re high and then you watch the replay and you are. And it’s pretty impressive what these cars take without taking it badly lap after lap. Pretty cool but looking forward to the race tomorrow!”

Jono’s thoughts:

“Surfers is always a lot of fun, I’ve always really enjoyed street circuits in general and this ones no different and coming back home with the surfboard and a win last year was a bit more special. For the pair of us it’s been a pretty successful partnership and it has been good and this weekend is going to be the last of it. For the most of it we’ll try and get onto the podium and hopefully our last hurrah will be with a win.”
