TEKNO’s Will Davison has overcome both on track clashes and mechanical issues at the Clipsal 500, and managed to finish just shy of the Top 10 in Race 2 over the weekend.
HIGHLIGHTS
Will was fastest in Race 2 Qualifying opening laps.
Will climbed 7 places in Race 2 to finish P13.
CLIPSAL 500 RECAP
Race 1 – DNF
Davison began the race in P17 before he was hit in the first lap on the left hand side by Todd Kelly, and was unable to take any further part in the race.
The Team worked through the night to make the #19 Woodstock Bourbon Car ready for Sunday’s race.
Race 2 – Position 13
Struck by another bout of bad luck, Davison was fastest in Sunday’s qualifying on the first run but a broken roll bar meant retiring from the session before the halfway mark.
Starting from P20 on the Grid Davison made a great comeback, climbing 7 spots to finish P13 in Race 2, just shy of the top 10.
“IT WAS A PRETTY ROUGH WEEKEND BUT IN THE END WE FINISHED WITH AN ALRIGHT RACE 2 RESULT AND HAD A GOOD RACE AND THAT WAS ALL WE COULD DO FROM 20TH. WE’VE HAD VERY LITTLE RUNNING TIME AS INNOCENT VICTIMS IN THE RACE 1 LAP 1 SHUNT, IT WAS CAMPBELL AND I’S FIRST EVENT TOGETHER SO SOME MORE TRACK TIME WOULD HAVE BEEN GOOD. WE WEREN’T THE QUICKEST CAR BUT WE CERTAINLY COULD HAVE RUN IN THE TOP 5 SO WE CAN TAKE A LOT AWAY FROM TODAY AND REALLY GET THE BALL ROLLING FOR THE NEXT ROUND.”
