TEKNO’s Will Davison has finished 6th overall in the Supercars Challenge at the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix.
Will qualified 11th, 12th, 10th & 13th in the rolling sessions.
Will’s best race result was P5 in Race 3.
Will finished 6th overall with 181 points.
Race 1 – Position 11
Davison managed to narrowly avoid the on track carnage in the first race of the weekend and finish just shy of the Top 10.
With the final laps running under Safety Car Davison was unable to progress any further and finished where he began.
Race 2 – Position 5
Davison began in 12th for Friday’s second race and climbed 7 places to finish in the Top 5.
In another carnage filled race Davison piloted the #19 TEKNO Commodore into its best result of the weekend.
Race 3 – Position 8
Saturday’s race in front of the Formula 1 crowds was relatively uneventful compared to the previous races, making it hard to split the field.
Davison finished P8 and added another Top 10 result to his campaign for the Supercars Challenge.
Race 4 – Position 8
The final race of the weekend saw Davison crack into the Top 10 after starting in 13th and finishing P8.
Davison was pleased with the weekend overall, and finished 6th in the Supercars Challenge standings.
Davison and the team will be looking for some more speed heading into the Tasmania SuperSprint.
“IT WAS A SOLID AND CONSISTENT WEEKEND, PRETTY ENJOYABLE BUT WE NEVER QUITE UNLOCKED THE SPEED WE NEEDED. EACH RACE WE TRIED SOME DRASTIC THINGS ON THE CAR AND GOT SOME REALLY VALUABLE INFORMATION AND WE MOVED FORWARDS IN OUR GRID SPOT ON EACH. 6TH IN POINTS WAS GREAT BUT NOW WE JUST NEED TO PUT OUR HEADS DOWN AND MOVE FORWARD AND GET ON A PODIUM SOON. THE AIM FOR TASMANIA IS TO CAPITALISE THERE AFTER WE HAD SOME GOOD RESULTS LAST YEAR WHICH IS EXCITING BECAUSE WE KNOW THE POTENTIAL IS THERE AND IT SHOULD BE A GREAT WEEKEND.”
